Eighth-grade students explore bioplastics through ornament creation

Gina Piatak 8th Grade Science | Coal City Middle School

Students in Mrs. Piatak's eighth-grade science class are concluding their study of geology by exploring the use of bioplastics. Having learned about fossil fuel formation and its associated challenges, the students are tasked with creating ornaments from bioplastics as an alternative to traditional oil-based plastics. The project spans two weeks and involves testing various recipes to understand how different ingredients impact the properties of their plant-based plastic creations.
