Coal City Middle School art students have been acknowledged for their artistic achievements in the Fourth Quarter Art Show. Jelenie Opyd received the Principal’s Award for her name logo piece.
In the eighth grade category, Max Christensen won first place with "Gru" in the Clay Cupcake section. Brooklyn Wintermute and Jaycee Chase both secured second places with "The Vibrant Hibiscus" and "Otterific," respectively. In the Beyond the Border category, Lilly Miotk's "Shark in a School" earned first place, while Payten Boyd's "Hot Crustacean Band" and Shelby Bianchetta's "Under the Sea" were awarded second places.
Seventh graders competed in various categories as well. Cianna McKee achieved first place with her work "Fall Fox" in the Clay Tile section. Isabella Hernandez and Jelenie Opyd tied for second place with pieces titled "Night of the Swans" and "A House for a Hermit Crab." Lila Molloy claimed first place in Name Logo with her creation, "The Utter Chaos of Me," followed by Addison Skaggs' second-place entry, "Under Addie’s Sea."
Sixth-grade students also showcased their talents. Lily Connor-Mikos took first place with her Coil Pot titled "Spring Time." Evelyn Pershey came in second with her piece, "The Green Sea." In Identity Letter, Emily Munsell secured first place, while Kylee Looper and Ruby Padovano shared second place honors.
