Coal City High School honors senior football players

Alec Waliczek | Coal City Community Unit School District 1

Alec Waliczek, Zander Meents, William Johnke, and Landin Benson were among the senior football players honored on Senior Night at Coal City High School. Alec Waliczek, who has been a team captain for four years, also participates in wrestling and other extracurricular activities. He plans to study finance at a four-year university.

Zander Meents is also a four-year member and captain of the football team and plays basketball. He was accompanied by his parents Kristi and Nick Meents on Senior Night. Although he plans to continue his education after high school, he has not yet decided on a major.

William Johnke serves as a captain this season and is involved in several school organizations including Student Council and National Honor Society. His future plans include attending university to major in sports management.

Landin Benson has been part of the team for four years as well and is involved in multiple school activities. He intends to further his education but remains undecided about his major.

Dylan Young has participated in various sports and academic clubs during his time at CCHS. He plans to attend university but has not chosen a field of study yet.

Gabe McHugh joined the Coaler Football team two years ago and also plays baseball and basketball. His post-high school plans are still uncertain.

Ray Gonzalez, who has been with the football team for four years, is active in wrestling and drama club as well. He aims to pursue sports training while continuing football after graduation.

Hayden Clark will graduate in spring with intentions to become a welder for Local 597 Pipefitters.

Jake Cerutti's future plans remain undecided following recognition on Senior Night alongside his parents TC Cerutti and Katie Davis.

Bobby Mitchell received acknowledgment for his two seasons with the Coaler Football team; he is also involved in choir at CCHS.

Ayden Housman was recognized as a three-year member of the football team with aspirations to enter trades post-graduation.

John Keigher wishes to continue playing football while pursuing an education degree with hopes of coaching one day. Alongside football, he participated in wrestling at CCHS.
