Emma JoAnn Homa, 82, Remembered for Community Service and Loving Family

Emma JoAnn Homa, nee Weathers, aged 82, of Braceville, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on December 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 16, 1942, in Litchfield, Illinois, Emma's life was marked by her dedication to her community, volunteer work at the Braceville United Methodist church, and service as the Braceville village treasurer. Emma's immense love for the town she called home for 44 years was evident in her selfless acts and deep compassion for others.

A warrior who bravely battled cancer, Emma's strength and resilience inspired all who knew her. Known for her creative talents in sewing, canning, cooking, and baking, Emma found joy in crafting homemade creations to share with her loved ones. However, above all, her profound love for her family was her greatest treasure.

Survived by her husband Jim Homa, son Eric (James) Choma, daughter Jayne (Leon) Bergman, grandchildren, and sister Evelyn Lanter, Emma was a beacon of love, strength, and kindness in the lives of those she touched. A memorial visitation and service will be held at the Braceville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Joe Schripsema officiating.
