Seventh-grade class focuses on goal-setting and resilience-building activities
Brenna Noffsinger ELA Instructor | Coal City Middle School

As students returned from their break, Mrs. Noffsinger's classes focused on more than just New Year's resolutions. They engaged in creating pathway milestones to achieve long-term goals, learning to transform dreams into reality through actionable plans. "A goal without a plan is just a wish," the saying goes, emphasizing the importance of planning.

Students also identified potential challenges and applied the concept of productive struggle to develop strategies for embracing difficulties. This approach aimed to foster resilience and build confidence in overcoming obstacles.

In the upcoming weeks, students will delve into nonfiction writing with "Unbroken: An Olympian's Journey from Airman to Castaway to Captive" and write a narrative continuation essay. Daily lessons will incorporate vocabulary, grammar, and mechanics to enhance their skills.

"We're excited to begin the second half of seventh grade and can't wait to see these young, beautiful minds grow," Mrs. Noffsinger stated.
