The Coal City Community Unit School District is gearing up for its annual Family Wellness Night, set to take place on February 19. This popular event will feature over 80 vendors offering a wide range of activities and services aimed at promoting wellness in various aspects, including physical, emotional, mental, and financial health.

Unit 1 Superintendent Chris Spencer commented on the significance of the event: “It is such a great event for our community, there is truly something for everyone to participate in or a service to learn about.”

Organized by the district's Wellness Committee, the event promises engaging activities such as pickleball, ping pong, and mini-golf for both children and adults. These activities underscore the committee's belief that wellness encompasses more than just healthy eating and exercise.

Attendees can also look forward to sampling food from local vendors like The Cove, Nelly’s, Subway, Morris Hospital, and Coal City School Food Services at the returning food court. There will be demonstrations along with giveaways and prizes.

Family Wellness Night will be hosted at Coal City High School with free admission. All activities and services are provided at no cost to attendees. The doors will open from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

A diverse lineup of vendors includes A.J. Gallagher & Co., Ameriprise Financial Services Inc., Associated Orthodontists, Athletico, ATI Physical Therapy, Bank of Pontiac - Coal City Bank branch among others such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and Broadway Family Dental.

Also participating are local organizations like CASA of River Valley, Coal City Backpack Program, and the Coal City Fire Department alongside educational groups such as the Coal City High School Science Club and Student Council.

Health services will be represented by entities including Grundy County Health Department and Riverside Healthcare. Various community services such as Meals on Wheels/Community Nutrition Network will also be present.

The comprehensive list of participants reflects the district's commitment to providing resources that support holistic well-being for all community members.
