The Coal City Community Unit School District is set to host its annual Fine Arts Festival on February 23, featuring student-created art and musical performances. This event, which has been a tradition for over fifty years, aims to showcase the skills and creativity of students from fourth to twelfth grade.
Scheduled to take place at Coal City High School from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the festival will display student artwork throughout the afternoon. The music performances will begin with middle and high school choirs at 1 p.m., followed by various bands including the middle school jazz band at 1:45 p.m., high school jazz band at 2 p.m., fifth-grade band at 2:24 p.m., sixth-grade band at 3 p.m., seventh and eighth-grade band at 3:15 p.m., Mega Band at 3:30 p.m., and concluding with the high school band performance at 3:45 p.m. Additionally, solo performances by music students are scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
Admission to the festival is free. The Coal City Music Boosters will conduct raffles during the event, with proceeds benefiting the district's music students and programs.
