Students at Coal City Middle School are engaging in comprehensive health and physical education programs. In Mr. Bunton's health classes, students have been exploring six body systems, with the current focus on the respiratory system and its benefits for maintaining health. Earlier lessons covered the skeletal, muscular, digestive, circulatory, and nervous systems. The quarter will conclude with discussions on the harmful effects of tobacco.
Meanwhile, physical education students recently completed a unit on square dancing and line dancing. These activities not only serve as lifelong exercises but also promote social development skills. As the quarter progresses, students will transition to playing floor hockey and concentrate on personal fitness through daily stretching and running or walking exercises.
