The Coal City School District is preparing to host a series of summer athletic camps for students in various grades. Registration for these camps will be available soon via Revtrak, accessible through the school's district website at www.coalcityschools.org. Those with questions may reach out to the coach in charge of each camp or Athletic Director Brad Boresi.
The camps will cover a range of sports. For boys' basketball (Grades 5-8), scheduled from June 2-6, players will develop fundamental skills at the Coal City High School Competition Gym. Coach Joe Micetich will handle queries related to this camp.
A tennis camp for grades K-12 is also planned for the same dates, June 2-6, at the Coal City High School Tennis Courts. This camp will emphasize the proper techniques for ground strokes and serves, with coaches Matt Leman and Jeremy Unger providing additional information.
For younger students, a wrestling camp (Grades K-4) is scheduled for June 2-6 at the Coal City High School Wrestling Room. Campers will learn various techniques and defenses. Mark Masters is the contact for queries regarding this camp.
Girls' basketball will be held from June 9-13 for Grades 4-8 at the Coal City High School Competition Gym. Coach Brad Schmitt will oversee this camp, which focuses on all basic basketball fundamentals.
A distinctive focus will be given to wrestling for Grades 5-8, occurring on June 9-13 at the Coal City High School Wrestling Room. The program will teach techniques and body awareness. Mark Masters will be available for questions.
In July, a volleyball camp (Grades 4-8) will take place from July 7-11 at the high school's gymnasium, emphasizing both offensive and defensive skills. Coach Pam McMurtrey is the contact.
Additionally, a football camp for Grades 4-8 will be held from July 14-18 at the Coal City High School Stadium. Attendees will learn about player positions and game fundamentals. Francis Loughran will address questions.
Other camps on the schedule include soccer (Grades 6-8) from July 21-25 and softball (Grades 4-8) from July 14-18. Soccer practices will be at the High School Soccer Field, while softball participants will meet at the Coal City Middle School Softball Field. Coaches Alicia Matusiak for soccer and Rodney Monbrum for softball will be available for questions.
In addition to these youth-oriented camps, there are various high school athletic programs planned. Each has a dedicated coach for inquiries, including basketball, tennis, soccer, wrestling, and other sports.
