Senior members of the Coalers Baseball Team | Coal City Community Unit School District 1

The Coalers Baseball Team honored its senior members during Senior Night activities on May 5. Recognized for their commitment and contributions to the team were Blaine Doss, Gabe McHugh, Hayden Clark, AJ Wills, and Dylan Young.

Blaine Doss is a four-year member of the baseball team and has served as a corner outfielder this year. Coach Greg Wills highlighted Doss's pivotal pinch- hit single in the seventh inning at Lisle that sparked a six-run comeback for the Coalers. Doss has also participated in golf and plans to enroll in the maintenance program at Joliet Junior College. He was accompanied by his parents Crystal and Matt Doss on Senior Night.

Gabe McHugh joined the program last year and has made significant impacts since then. Coach Wills said, “Gable has been a special addition to Coaler Athletics since he entered Coal City High School. ” McHugh has played middle infield this season and is recognized both athletically and academically by various bodies. He has also earned All-Conference honors in football and basketball. His mother, Amy Campagnna, escorted him on Senior Night. McHugh will continue his academic and baseball careers at Kankakee Community College.

Hayden Clark is in his third season with the Coalers after missing most of last year due to injury. Coach Wills remarked on Clark's versatility: “Hayden has been a versatile player for the 2025 Coalers spending time at all three outfield positions, as well as at third base and shortstop. ” Clark plans to study criminal justice at Joliet Junior College following graduation. His parents Nicole Porterfeld and Jason Clark accompanied him on Senior Night.

AJ Wills is a decorated four-year member of the team who has played pitcher, third baseman, first base, and corner outfield positions over his tenure with the Coalers. He received recognition from ICE Conference along with local media for his athletic and academic achievements during his junior year..Wills will be attending Aquinas College in Michigan majoring in data science while playing baseball there too.He was accompanied by his parents Heather & Nate Wills

Dylan Young rounds off this list being another four-year member whom coach Greg wills describes as “a standout athletic performer” across three sports including Football,Basketball besides Baseball.As part of Baseball team,Dylan mostly played Middle Infield but had stints as Designated Hitter & First Base too.Beyond sports,Dylan actively participated National Honor Society , Spanish Honor Society , Future Business Leaders America among others.Escorting Dylan were Parents Brooke & Kevin Young
