Mrs. Sobieck's seventh-grade social studies classes are engaging in a project to create their own utopian country. The students began by researching an existing country to understand its current systems and structures. They then worked in groups to design their ideal society, making decisions about the government and economy.

In considering their utopia's government, students determined the most suitable type of governance for their nation, drafted a constitution along with other laws, and decided on the title for their leader and the method of leadership selection. Additionally, they selected an economic system that would best allocate resources within their country.

The project also involved creative tasks such as designing a national flag and currency, as well as describing cultural aspects like clothing, food, holidays, and traditions. The culmination of this project will be student presentations shared with the class.

Mrs. Sobieck commented on the process: "It has been a great journey seeing the students demonstrating their imagination and innovation to fabricate their idyllic Utopia (paradise)."
