On Sunday, March 9, former Coal City High School standout Payton Hutchings’ college team won in an NCAA Division I baseball game

On Sunday, March 9, former Coal City High School standout Payton Hutchings’ current college team, the Illinois Fighting Illini, won 6-2 in their NCAA Division I baseball game against the Michigan Wolverines.

The game took place at Holman Stadium. This was their third matchup against the Wolverines this season.

The Fighting Illini’s next game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11 at 6 p.m. at Illinois Field against Western Illinois Leathernecks.
