Riverside Medical Center has been recognized for its excellence in heart attack care, receiving the American College of Cardiology’s Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2025. This award places Riverside among the top 323 hospitals in the United States.

Phil Kambic, president and CEO of Riverside Healthcare, stated, “This recognition is a direct result of the expertise, commitment, and compassion our team brings to every patient encounter.” He emphasized the importance of meeting and exceeding national standards in heart disease care.

The award reflects Riverside's performance in the Chest Pain – MI Registry, which evaluates how well hospitals adhere to treatment guidelines for heart attack patients. To qualify for this recognition, hospitals must meet specific performance criteria over two consecutive years. Riverside achieved this for both 2023 and 2024.

Patients at Riverside can expect rapid diagnosis and treatment, timely medications and procedures to restore blood flow, and support for lifestyle changes such as smoking cessation and cardiac rehabilitation.

Michael C. Kontos, MD, FACC, chair of the NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Steering Subcommittee, praised Riverside’s dedication to quality care: “It is an honor to award Riverside Medical Center with the Platinum Performance Award for their valuable national leadership.”

With more than 800,000 Americans experiencing heart attacks annually according to the CDC, Riverside’s adherence to best practices ensures that local patients receive high-quality cardiovascular care without needing to travel far from home.
