Coal City School District is preparing for the start of the 2025-2026 academic year, with students and staff set to return to classrooms on Wednesday, August 13. The district has outlined the first and last day dismissal schedule: Early Childhood Center students will attend from 7:55 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.; Elementary School and Intermediate School from 8:10 a.m. to 1:35 p.m.; Middle School from 8:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.; and High School students will be in session from 8:20 a.m. to 1:40 p.m.

Regular school hours will resume after the initial days. The Early Childhood Center will operate from 7:55 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., Elementary and Intermediate Schools from 8:10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Middle School from 8:30 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., and High School from 8:20 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.

Before classes begin, families can participate in Back-to-School Nights, providing an opportunity for students and parents to meet teachers ahead of the new term. These events begin on Tuesday, August 12, with the Early Childhood Center open from 3:30-5 p.m., Elementary School from 4:45-6:15 p.m., and Intermediate School (at the Elementary building) from 6-7:30 p.m.

Coal City Middle School’s Back-to-School Night is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19, between 6-7:30 p.m., while Coal City High School invites students on Friday, August 8, for "Walk their Schedule" between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Faculty and staff are anticipating student returns across all buildings for what they hope will be another positive year as Coalers.
