Jessie Kasher Passes Away at 93 in Coal City

Jessie Mae Kasher, age 93, a lifelong resident of Coal City, Illinois, died on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. Born on October 17, 1931, to Joseph and Laura Bertino, Jessie was a dedicated member of the Coal City community.

Jessie married Joseph Kasher in 1952 and raised her family in Coal City. She worked at the Coal City Bank as Head Book Keeper before retiring. A devout member of Assumption Catholic Church, Jessie was known for her generosity and welcoming home, earning her the affectionate title "Grandma Jessie".

In retirement, Jessie remained active in her grandchildren's lives, often traveling long distances to stay connected with her children. She was beloved by many, including her dear friends Pam Tessler and the late Darlene Baber, and will be reunited with her husband, Joe, in death.

Survived by her children and grandchildren, Jessie's memory will be cherished by all who knew her. Visitation will be at Reeves Funeral Home on Thursday, September 11, 2025, with funeral services at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church on September 12. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Braidwood, Illinois.

Memorials in Jessie's honor can be made to Assumption Catholic Church or Lightways Hospice. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Reeves, Fruland, and Baskerville Funeral Homes and Crematory in Coal City.
