The Illinois Theatre Festival's All-State Production of "The Prom" is set to open on Thursday, January 9, at the University of Illinois' Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. This event features participation from Coal City High School students Mason Natyshok and Sam Vota. Mason will be performing as a member of the cast, while Sam contributes as part of the pit orchestra.

A group from the Coal City Theatre Department will attend to support their peers. The Illinois Theatre Festival is recognized as the largest student theater festival in the United States. Students selected for the All-State Production are considered among the top student actors, musicians, and crew members in Illinois.

Coal City Theatre director Jack Micetich also plays a role in this production, serving as its costume designer.
