Earlier this month, two Town Hall meetings were held to discuss the future of Coal City Intermediate School. Approximately 90 individuals attended the sessions aimed at providing community members with information about the school's current status and gathering public comments and questions regarding its future.
During the Town Hall Meetings, it was outlined that the Board of Education has been presented with several concepts: repair, renovate, and rebuild. The information from these public sessions includes various presented concepts, a timeline, questions asked by the public, photographs of the Intermediate School, and other relevant details.
The decision on how to proceed will be made by the Board of Education based on what is best for the School District—students, staff, and community stakeholders. Community input is welcomed in this process.
District residents who have questions about the information presented or wish to share their insights with the Board ahead of its scheduled Feb. 5 meeting are encouraged to email.
