Born on November 22, 1937, in Chicago, Fred was the son of George, Sr. and Juanita Sirovy. Following his service in the United States Navy, he pursued a career as a machinist, showcasing his skillful hands and meticulous nature. A natural tinkerer, Fred found joy in fixing, creating, and enhancing various objects.
Among his greatest pleasures were fishing trips to Canada, which brought him peace. Boating was another beloved pastime, and celebrating holidays with family brought him profound happiness. Fred was content in life's simpler moments, finding joy in connection, tradition, and the beauty of everyday life.
Active and engaged, Fred enjoyed exercise and excelled in bowling, achieving the rare feat of a perfect 300 game. His pride in helping his nephew build a home highlighted his generosity, dedication, and craftsmanship.
Those who knew Fred will remember him as a thoughtful, independent, and proud man whose presence will be deeply missed.
Survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Kay Sirovy of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, including special nephew Terry Sirovy of Wilmington, Illinois.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, George and Juanita, and siblings: George E. (Janet) Sirovy, Jr., Victor (Janine) Sirovy, James (Phyllis) Sirovy, Wanda (Robert) Pilette, and Marilyn (Ray) Mohyde.
Cremation rites have been performed.
A memorial visitation will be held at Reeves Funeral Home in Coal City on Friday, January 17, 2025, followed by inurnment with military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
