Born on October 26, 1952, in Joliet, Illinois, Bob was the son of Kenneth and Elsie Walsh. He graduated from Coal City High School in 1970 and embarked on a career that included roles at Fluor Construction, Reichhold Chemical, and Wolven TV + Appliance before establishing Walsh Appliance Repair in 1986. Known citywide as the go-to person for appliance issues, Bob's commitment to his work and the community was unparalleled. His dedication extended beyond business hours, earning him the reputation of a reliable and caring professional, always willing to assist those in need.
Apart from his work, Bob's love for Chicago sports teams, especially the Bears and White Sox, showed his unwavering support and passion for the games. He enjoyed family gatherings at the Coal City Area Club, creating lasting memories. An enthusiastic outdoorsman, Bob cherished hunting and fishing trips, savoring the tranquility of nature. His devotion to his grandchildren was evident through his attendance at their sports events, showcasing the pride and joy they brought him.
Described as a kind-hearted, dependable, and humorous individual, Bob's legacy is one of kindness, integrity, and staunch support for his family and friends.
Survived by his wife, Susan Walsh, their children Kelli Ogrodnik and Christopher Walsh, and multiple grandchildren, Bob leaves a lasting impact on his loved ones, modeling a life of compassion, loyalty, and devotion.
Bob's humility and empathy earned him respect within the community, making him a treasured friend to many.
Services will include a visitation at Reeves Funeral Home in Coal City on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Thursday morning, January 23, 2025, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial.
Memorials can be directed to Lightways Hospice or Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in honor of Bob.
Cremation rites will be observed, with a private inurnment planned for a later date.
