Mrs. Boresi's class explores volume through hands-on activities
Nikki Boresi, 5th Grade Teacher | Coal City Intermediate School

Mrs. Boresi's classroom recently transformed into a construction zone focused on exploring volume. Students, referred to as "volume engineers," engaged in activities where they measured boxes of various shapes and sizes. This interactive learning experience involved students using tape measures and dressing up, as they calculated the length, width, and height to determine each box's volume.

"It's amazing to see the students so engaged in this hands-on learning activity," Mrs. Boresi stated. She added that the experience allowed students to apply mathematical concepts in a practical setting, enhancing their understanding of volume.

The students collaborated enthusiastically, enjoying the process of measuring and calculating. Such activities aim to nurture teamwork and critical thinking skills while making learning enjoyable.
