The Coalers' Track and Field season has concluded, marking a record-setting year for both the boys and girls teams.

The boys team finished with an Illinois High School Association (IHSA) record of 8-1, while the girls concluded at 7-2. Three members of the girls team— Maddie Castle, Ella Wills, and Evelyn Wills—qualified for the state finals. Representing the boys team at state were Parker Jacovec and Julian Micetich, who medaled in the 110-meter hurdles.

Throughout the season, track and field athletes set 243 personal records. Additionally, 26 top 10 All-Time Records were established; eight athletes were named All-Conference; and 23 earned Academic All-Conference honors.

Three school records were set: Sydney Larson in pole vault, Parker Jacovec in long jump, and Julian Micetich in the 110-meter hurdles with a preliminary round time of 14.74 seconds at the state finals.

The track and field athletes were recognized last week during an end-of- season awards ceremony. Special awards were presented to Team MVPs—Julian Micetich with 185.25 points and Ella Wills with 171.25 points. Most improved awards went to Charlie Pfeifer and Liz Nadess, while Gabriel “Fuzzy” Hamilton received the Team Spirit Award.
