Riverside Healthcare has announced the donation of a building formerly owned by Cigna, located next to its Health Fitness Center in Bourbonnais. The healthcare system's President and CEO, Phil Kambic, expressed appreciation for the donation and highlighted its strategic location near their existing campus.
“Having recently learned about the donation, we don’t yet have a specific purpose for it, but its location, immediately north of our Bourbonnais campus, provides for natural synergy to the growing services we offer there,” Kambic stated. He further mentioned that Riverside will collaborate with its leadership team and board of directors to decide on the best use for this new property.
Kambic also pointed out Riverside's history of receiving similar donations as a not-for-profit organization. “In 2012, we were given three buildings in the Meadowview Shopping Center in Kankakee. Those buildings have provided space for a number of patient-facing and support services,” he said. Currently, one of these buildings is undergoing remodeling to expand physical therapy services.
Additionally, Kambic emphasized Riverside Healthcare's extensive network across multiple counties: “The community may not be fully aware that there are more than 40 Riverside Healthcare locations throughout Kankakee, Iroquois, Will, and Grundy counties.”
“We are fortunate to receive gifts like this, which aid in our ability to expand care and accessibility for our community,” added Kambic.
