The Coal City High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) will be represented at the National Leadership Conference in California by three members: Peyton Gibson, Kylee Kennell, and Grace Sitar.

The trio secured their trip to nationals after placing among the top four in their selected competitive events at the State Leadership Conference this spring.

This year’s FBLA National Leadership Conference and Competition is being held in Anaheim, CA from June 29 to July 2. The Coalers will be heading west later this week to begin competition and participate in various conference activities including workshops, speakers, and outings.

Grace Sitar qualified in the category of event planning and will begin competition on the morning of Monday, June 30. Peyton Gibson and Kylee Kennell will compete as a team in the sales presentation category starting that afternoon.

The Unit 1 Educational Foundation assisted with costs for attending the national conference, as did the Unit 1 Board of Education.

FBLA is the largest career and technical student organization globally with over 230,000 members. Coal City’s chapter is advised by business education teacher Harlan Kennell.
