The Coal City School District has announced walk-in registration sessions for students new to the district. These sessions are scheduled for Thursday, July 10, from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and Tuesday, July 15, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
To initiate the registration process, families must first complete pre-registration online via the New Student Registration link on the district's website at www.coalcityschools.org. An email will be sent to families with detailed instructions on completing the online registration process. Additional requirements can be found on an informational page provided by the district.
Families are required to present proof of residency and either a driver's license or state ID for notary purposes; however, the address does not need to be current as long as it is valid. Additionally, an Illinois State Board of Education Student Transfer Form from their previous school is necessary unless they are entering Illinois from another state or are new Pre-K/Kindergarten students. These documents can be submitted during in-person registration at the District Administration Center located at 550 S. Carbon Hill Rd., Coal City.
For those unable to attend the initial session, a second opportunity is available on Tuesday, July 15, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, returning student registration for the academic year 2025-2026 is currently open and can also be accessed through the district's website under the Parent tab.
