Becker’s Hospital Review has acknowledged Phil Kambic, President and CEO of Riverside Healthcare, as one of the "207 Community Hospital Presidents and CEOs to Know" for 2025.
"Our community deserves access to compassionate, high-quality care, without having to travel long distances," said Kambic. "For more than 60 years, Riverside has consistently served the people of this community. I am proud to receive this recognition from Becker’s and am committed to improving and expanding Riverside’s services into the future."
Kambic began his career at Riverside Healthcare in 1985 and held the position of senior vice president and COO before becoming president and CEO in 2006. He also previously chaired the Illinois Health and Hospital Association board of directors and remains a board member. His leadership has been instrumental in ensuring that Riverside Healthcare provides exceptional care close to home.
Becker’s highlighted that "while many community hospitals focus on acute care, these forward-thinking CEOs are also expanding services to include primary care, specialty treatments, rehabilitation, public health programs and beyond."
Riverside Medical Center is recognized nationally as an award-winning level II trauma hospital offering vital healthcare services such as advanced heart care, cancer treatment, neurosurgery, and orthopedics. The center's providers are committed to delivering essential care locally for patients who might otherwise need to travel far distances for treatment in Chicago. In 2025, it was named one of Premier's "100 Top Hospitals" and is the only hospital in its area with Magnet designation for nursing excellence.
