Orientation events for students in the Coal City School District are set to begin this week. Coal City High School will host freshman orientation for the class of 2029 on Friday, August 1, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. All incoming freshmen are encouraged to attend to learn about their first year and the opportunities available as high school students. Students should be dropped off and picked up at the Events Entry on the west side of the school.
Other schools in the district will hold orientation events on Monday, August 4. At Coal City Middle School, sixth grade students with last names beginning A-L will attend from 8 to 9:30 a.m., while those with last names M-Z will have their session from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Students should enter through Door 8 (the gym entrance) and arrive at least five minutes before their scheduled time.
Seventh and eighth graders who are new to the district are invited to participate in middle school orientation activities starting at 11:30 a.m.
For younger students, new fourth and fifth graders will have orientation at Coal City Elementary School at 9 a.m., while second and third grade newcomers will attend orientation there at 10 a.m.
The first day of student attendance for the upcoming school year is scheduled for Wednesday, August 13.
