October is Fire Prevention Safety Month, and this year the Coal City Fire Protection District is working with the Coal City School District to educate students about fire safety. Firefighters from the Coal City Fire Department are visiting students at the Early Childhood Center, Elementary School, and Intermediate School in Coal City.
During these visits, firefighters are discussing key topics such as the importance of smoke detectors and developing a family evacuation plan. Lt. Josh Eddy of the Coal City Fire Department, along with his team, answered questions from students during their recent visit to both the Elementary and Intermediate Schools. Students also had the chance to see firefighting equipment up close and experience a walk through the bucket of a ladder truck.
A visit by firefighters to the Early Childhood Center is scheduled for later this week.
