The Coalers Boys Soccer Team won the Regional Championship on Saturday after a close shootout against Joliet Catholic Academy, ending with a score of 3-2. Goalie Carter Nicholson blocked JCA’s fifth kick, securing the victory for his team. After the win, teammates lifted Nicholson into the air while holding the Regional Championship plaque.
With this win, the Coalers advance to the IHSA Sectional Tournament and will play Herscher at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28. The tournament will be hosted by Coal City.
