The Coalers Boys Soccer Team won the Regional Championship on Saturday after a close shootout against Joliet Catholic Academy, ending with a score of 3-2. Goalie Carter Nicholson blocked JCA’s fifth kick, securing the victory for his team. After the win, teammates lifted Nicholson into the air while holding the Regional Championship plaque.
With this win, the Coalers advance to the IHSA Sectional Tournament and will play Herscher at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28. The tournament will be hosted by Coal City. Fans are encouraged to attend and sit in the east bleachers. Tickets cost $8 per person if purchased in advance at https://gofan.co/event/4941618?schoolId=IL15444 or $10 at the gate (cash only). Passes will not be accepted.
