Coal City Middle School’s sixth and seventh grade physical education classes are currently taking part in a speedball unit. According to physical education teacher Mark Masters, “It is one of the student favorites.” Speedball is a game that merges elements from football, basketball, and soccer. Students can score points by achieving a touchdown for one point, making a basket for two points, or scoring a goal for three points.
Eighth grade health students recently completed their study of the five components of physical fitness and learned how to set fitness goal plans aimed at improving quality of life. The curriculum has now shifted focus to discussions about nutrition.
