Mrs. Rhodes' and Mrs. Phillips' first-grade classes have been exploring the concept of moon phases in their Science lessons. The students engaged with various educational materials, including books and videos, to understand why the moon appears differently at different times.
To reinforce their learning, the children participated in activities designed to demonstrate the phases of the moon. One such activity involved a practical demonstration where students acted as Earth, rotating a representation of the moon around them while facing a lamp symbolizing the sun. This allowed them to observe how the illuminated portion of the moon changes, creating its different phases.
Additionally, crafting moon phases using Playdoh proved to be a popular and effective method for visualizing these celestial changes.
