The Coal City High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) participated in the annual State Leadership Conference in Springfield. Four students placed in the top ten, with three advancing to the national competition this summer.
Grace Sitar, Peyton Gibson, and Kylee Kennell earned a trip to the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CA. The top four finishers in each competitive event qualify for national competition.
FBLA is the premier state student business organization. The conference, held March 28-29 at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield, provided student members an opportunity to expand their business skills and compete in various events.
Sitar placed second in Introduction to Event Planning. Gibson and Kennell teamed up for Sales Presentation and finished fourth. These students will compete nationally in Anaheim from June 29 to July 2.
Abi Rose secured a ninth-place finish in Introduction to Public Speaking. Other participants included Gaven Vestal and Hayden Kennell who competed in Sports and Entertainment Management and Introduction to Social Media Strategies respectively.
“FBLA is a great national organization that provides many leadership opportunities for high school students,” said Harlan Kennell, chapter advisor.
