Local Entrepreneur Donald J. Frey, Owner of Don's Beer Store, Passes Away

Donald J. Frey, 89, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet, Illinois. Known for owning and operating the popular Don's Beer Store in Coal City for nearly four decades, Donald was a beloved figure in the community. Born in Newport, Michigan, he was a dedicated sports enthusiast and a generous individual who always extended a helping hand to those in need. Donald is survived by his wife, three children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Cremation rites have been accorded, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Reeves, Fruland and Baskerville Funeral Homes and Crematory.
