Career and Technical Education students from Coal City High School participated in the 10th annual Manufacturing Day, held on October 7 at Joliet Junior College’s Main Campus. The students attended with their instructors, Mr. Kennell and Ms. Matusiak.
Manufacturing Day is a national initiative sponsored by the Three Rivers Manufacturers’ Association in partnership with Joliet Junior College. The event targets high school students interested in STEM or Applied Technology careers and fields of study.
This year’s event also featured the Makers on the Move bus tour, which celebrates Manufacturing Month across Illinois by visiting factories, technical colleges, and high schools to showcase modern manufacturing environments. According to organizers, "Makers on the Move is a dynamic, statewide bus tour celebrating Manufacturing Month by shining a spotlight on the innovation, opportunity, and impact of modern manufacturing. Throughout the month, the tour will visit factories, technical colleges, and high schools across the state—offering an up-close look at today’s high-tech, clean, and sustainable manufacturing environments. With each stop, Makers on the Move aims to inspire students, engage communities, and connect employers with the next generation of talent. This is more than a celebration—it’s a chance to redefine what manufacturing looks like and highlight the diverse, rewarding careers available in this vital industry."
Nearly 40 exhibitors participated in this year’s Manufacturing Day, including companies as well as college and career training programs.
