Coal City High School's tennis team secured a 7-0 win against St. Bede during Senior Night on Monday. The seniors led the effort, with Rebecca Hall and Kyla Kohler each achieving 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 1 and No. 2 Singles, respectively.
In doubles play, Camryn Planeta and Bridget Feeney won at No. 1 Doubles with scores of 7-5, 6-2. Kamryn Hansen and Olivia Weatherbee took No. 2 Doubles in straight sets, while Mackenzie Lovell and junior Aubrey Jensen prevailed at No. 3 Doubles with a 7-5, 6-3 result.
Sophia Spoto, a senior newcomer, earned the night's highlight by winning her match at No. 3 Singles after a third-set super tiebreak that ended 13-11.
Juniors Lanie Winke and Kyla Stark completed the sweep for Coal City by taking No. 4 Doubles with another shutout.
“It was a truly unforgettable Senior Night, marked by powerful serves, deep talent, and a total team effort,” said Coach Matt Leman.
