Riverside Healthcare has expanded the medical imaging technology at its Bourbonnais Campus with the installation of three new units. This effort aims to provide faster results and reduce wait times, benefiting patients and staff. The Riverside Bourbonnais Clinic Imaging Refresh Project includes a newly built 5,000 square-foot imaging suite.
A significant addition is the PET/CT scanner, the first and only permanent technology of its kind in the region, which provides easier and timely scheduling options. This eliminates the need for mobile scanners that visit the area on a weekly or monthly basis. New MRI and CT machines are also part of the upgrades.
Phil Kambic, President and CEO of Riverside Healthcare, stated, "Riverside is proud to introduce our new state-of-the-art CT and MRI scanners and the region’s first and only permanent PET (Positron Emission Tomography) scanning technology. These cutting-edge upgrades at our Bourbonnais Campus are already elevating the patient experience and equipping our staff with invaluable resources."
The installed scanners include the Canon Aquilion ONE (CT Prism), the Canon Cartesion Prime (PET/CT), and the Siemens MAGNETOM Sola (MRI). They provide various diagnostic capabilities, such as diagnosing, staging, and planning treatment for cancer patients, and evaluating brain abnormalities including tumors, Alzheimer’s disease, and seizures. The technological advancements also support cardiac and neurologic imaging.
Garrard Hendrix, Nuclear Medicine Supervisor at Riverside Medical Center, commented, “It was time to optimize our patient experience and deliver in-house PET/CT services. Now, we've always provided fixed MRI and CT solutions at our Bourbonnais clinic. However, it's Riverside's principal intent to provide our patients with the most cutting-edge technology as the premier healthcare provider in this county, as well as surrounding communities.”
The new imaging technology utilizes AI to enhance diagnostic accuracy and improve patient outcomes while streamlining healthcare processes and fostering future innovations.
