Riverside Medical Center has been recognized as a Blue Distinction Center+ for Spine Surgery by Blue Cross Blue Shield. This designation places Riverside among facilities noted for providing both quality and affordable care, with a focus on positive patient outcomes.
The medical center also holds the Blue Distinction Center+ title in Cardiac Care, Knee and Hip Replacement, and Maternity Care. "We’re proud to have our four programs recognized as Blue Distinction Center+," stated Phil Kambic, President and CEO of Riverside Healthcare. He emphasized that these honors highlight the center's dedication to high-quality, patient-centered services.
Located at 100 Riverside Drive in Bourbonnais, the Riverside Orthopedic & Spine Center offers treatment for various conditions affecting the spine and other joints. Dr. Juan Jimenez, a neurosurgeon at Riverside Healthcare, expressed pride in their national recognition: “It’s a true honor to have our Spine Surgery program recognized on a national level.”
Blue Distinction Centers aim to assist patients and doctors in making informed decisions about healthcare providers for specific procedures. The criteria include surgical team expertise and consistent positive patient outcomes. Additionally, the program is expanding to include ambulatory surgery centers (ASC) alongside hospitals.
The Blue Distinction Center program evaluates providers based on their ability to deliver safe and effective specialty care. Facilities earning the Blue Distinction Center+ designation are also assessed on their efficiency in delivering this care.
