Coalers Girls Varsity Tennis finished fourth at the LaSalle-Peru Invite last weekend. The team, representing Coal City Community Unit School District 1, competed strongly throughout the tournament.
“While the competition was tough on Friday, our team came back with incredible energy on Saturday during the singles matches,” said Coach Matt Leman. Becca Hall led the charge, taking second place at #1 singles. She was followed by Camryn Planeta, who also secured second place at #6 singles.
The team's performance continued with Kamryn Hansen and Kyla Stark each placing fourth at #4 and #5 singles. Kyla Kohler and Lanie Winke won two out of three matches each to become consolation champions at #2 and #3 singles. These results helped Coal City secure a total of 32 points on Saturday for a fourth-place team finish.

The tennis team’s current record stands at 2-1 as they prepare for upcoming matches against Streator, Bishop McNamara, Mendota, and Gibson City.
