Jaxon Duke has qualified for the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Golf Sectional after scoring a 92 at the regional tournament held on Wednesday. Duke will compete in the sectional meet scheduled for Monday, October 6, at Mauh-Nah-Tee Country Club in Rockford.
Another golfer, Corey Lovell, also scored a 92 and entered a four-way playoff to vie for the last two qualifying spots. Coach Harlan Kennell reported that Lovell advanced to the second hole of the playoff before being eliminated.
“I’m proud of both of these guys and the entire Coaler Golf Team on a great season,” said Kennell.
The Coalers finished eighth as a team in the regional event. Other team members who participated included Frankie Ponio with a score of 96, McKale Perino with 98, Cody Scheer with 100, and Trevor Walker also with 100.
