The Coal City High School Pickleball Club held its first fall tournament, featuring strong performances from several student teams. Mason Garner and Brock Finch went undefeated until facing Devon McVey and Carsen Hart, who handed them their only loss. This set up a final rematch in which Mason and Brock reclaimed victory to win the tournament. Devon and Carsen finished second after a competitive showing.
Third place went to Aiden Meister and Aiden Kenney, while Brody Widlowski and Cooper Morris took fourth place.
Club sponsors Mr. Leman and Mr. Unger expressed their appreciation for the participants' sportsmanship. "A huge thanks to all the teams who competed and made this a truly memorable event," said Mr. Leman.
There was also interest in whether the student champions could challenge their teachers, with a possible future match being considered if weather allows.
