High school students practice teamwork with blueberry banana bites

Students in Ms. George’s class at Coal City High School participated in an exercise designed to enhance their teamwork and direction-following skills by preparing a snack called blueberry banana bites. This activity was part of an extension from their weekly news article.

Luke and Zach, two students from the class, turned the task into a friendly competition to see which team could follow the recipe most accurately and efficiently. In a surprising outcome, Hanna and Bella's team finished first, narrowly beating the boys' team by just minutes. After chilling the dough, all students contributed to rolling it into bite-sized pieces.

A requirement of the cooking day was for all students to taste the final product. This served dual purposes: introducing them to new foods and allowing them to critique their own cooking skills.

Despite enjoying the process of assembling ingredients and rolling dough, most students did not favor the taste of the final product even though they followed the recipe without errors. However, teachers Ms. Caher, Ms. Sarah, Ms. Angelica, and Ms. George found it delicious despite its healthy ingredients.
