Currently, sixth and seventh-grade physical education classes are starting a SpeedBall unit. This activity combines elements of soccer, basketball, and football using an indoor soccer ball. The game emphasizes spatial awareness, eye-hand coordination, and teamwork. Scoring in SpeedBall occurs when the offense achieves a touchdown for one point, makes a basket for two points, or kicks a goal for three points.
PE teacher Mark Masters noted that students recently completed their physical fitness testing across five specific areas: upper body strength, core strength, endurance, flexibility, speed, and agility.
In eighth-grade health classes, students have just concluded their study of the five components of physical fitness and learned how to set a fitness goal plan aimed at improving their quality of life. They have now moved on to discussions about nutrition.
