The winter concert season featured performances by the fifth grade Beginning Band and sixth grade Cadet Band on Thursday evening. The students showcased their progress and musical skills.
The event on December 5 began with the fifth graders, who have been learning their instruments since September. They performed six pieces, including "Hot Bundt Cakes," "Beethoven’s Joy," and the holiday classic "Jingle Bells."
Following them, the Cadet Band took to the stage with three holiday songs. Their performance included "Christmas in the Kitchen," which was notable for using water glasses and cooking pots as instruments. The concert concluded with a rendition of "Sleigh Ride," a favorite among the Cadet Band members.
Both bands are under the direction of Andrew Brimm.
Upcoming events include a high school choral concert on Tuesday, December 10, followed by Coal City High School's Madrigal performances from Friday, December 13 to Sunday, December 15. The middle school band will perform on December 17, with the holiday concerts concluding with middle school choirs on December 19.
