Students involved in the vocal and instrumental music programs at Coal City Middle and High Schools have the opportunity to join the local chapter of the Illinois Music Honor Society. This organization is established and sponsored by the Coal City Music Boosters.
Membership is available to students who meet specific requirements in musicianship, leadership, citizenship, and scholarship. These students show dedication to their school's music programs and aim to provide opportunities for others through service, enrichment, and connection with fellow student musicians.
Members of the Music Honor Society recently volunteered their time to perform at the Festival of Trees. During their latest meeting, they engaged in playing holiday handbell music as a group activity.
