Coal City High School's Mackenzie Messina and Coal City Middle School's Jackson Hollis have been chosen to participate in the 2025 Illinois Music Education Association’s All-State Student Programs. Mackenzie will join the All-State Senior Band, while Jackson will lend his voice to the All-State Junior High Chorus.

The program is held alongside the Illinois Music Education Conference at the Peoria Civic Center this week. The All-State Junior High Chorus will collaborate with a distinguished vocal director and perform a concert at noon on Saturday, February 1.

Mackenzie, as part of the All-State Senior Band, will engage in three days of sectional and full band rehearsals, culminating in a concert at 1 p.m. on Saturday. This marks Mackenzie's second year participating in the All-State program.
