Six students from Coal City Middle School recently showcased their artistic talents at the middle school art show held at the Exhibit Gallery in Morris. The participating students included eighth graders Sophia Oswald, Izzy Herrera, Heli Patel, and Allyson Shelton, as well as seventh grader Kennedy Loughran and sixth grader Sergio Soler Mora.
Allyson Shelton achieved notable recognition by winning a first place ribbon for Best Use of Theme with her piece "Forest Friends" under the theme [Amazing Animals]. She also secured second place overall in the eighth grade category. Meanwhile, Sergio Soler Mora earned a second place finish among sixth grade entries with his artwork titled "Sergio's Dream."
Honorable mentions were awarded to Kennedy Loughran for "Amazing Animals in the Ocean" and Sophia Oswald for her piece "The Deep."
The Exhibit Gallery is open to the public on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and visitors can view the student artwork until March 8.
