In Mrs. Welch’s high school biology classes, students have been exploring evolution and natural selection, the fundamental forces driving evolutionary change. The recent lab challenge tasked students with creating their own learning games centered on the main concepts of natural selection, dubbed “Survival of the Fittest.”
Students were given one class period to utilize their prior knowledge and design their games. Each group then played its game, collected data, and made necessary adjustments.
Mrs. Welch commented on the initiative's success: “The groups developed very creative ideas while being able to successfully reinforce what they learned in class. ”
