In June, educators from the Coal City Community Unit School District #1 dedicated over 1,090 hours to improve student learning experiences. During this period, teachers focused on revising and developing common assessments, aligning curriculum with Illinois Learning Standards, and meeting state-mandated requirements.

Jennifer Kenney, the district director of curriculum and instruction, emphasized the significance of this work in preparing schools for the upcoming year and supporting high-quality instruction across all grade levels.

The updated curriculum will be presented to the Board of Education in August for approval. "Thank you to the Board of Education for allowing us to complete this very important work," Kenney stated.
