Last week, preschool students at Coal City Community Unit School District 1 focused on learning about friendship. The activities included stories, songs, and hands-on experiences that helped the children understand what it means to be a good friend.
The young learners participated in group painting, dancing, and center-based play to practice skills such as sharing and taking turns. Each student also made a "friendship flower" and gave it to a classmate.
Students shared their thoughts on friendship, saying:
- Friends are kind
- Friends help
- Friends take turns
- Friends share
- And most importantly… friends are friends!
Mrs. Harseim emphasized the importance of being a good friend in Pre-K: "As Mrs. Harseim always says, the most important job in Pre-K is to be a good friend. And this week, the preschoolers truly blossomed," she shared.
