In Mrs. Martino's second grade class at Coal City Elementary School, students are engaging in a science project where they act as "glue engineers." The students are working collaboratively to design and test different glue mixtures in order to address a practical problem for their school. As part of the project, they investigate the properties of various ingredients, test their glue designs, and use evidence from their experiments to argue which recipe is most effective.
The activity aims to give students hands-on experience with scientific inquiry and problem-solving by having them explore how different substances interact and how evidence can support decision-making.
