Students in Mrs. Hamilton's class have launched the first Coal City Elementary School Store this month. The store provides school supplies at reduced prices, and classes from the elementary school take turns visiting to make purchases. Students working at the store assist customers with shopping and calculating their totals, while parent helpers manage transactions by taking money and giving change.
Mrs. Hamilton expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “What a fantastic real-world experience for the workers and shoppers.” A portion of the profits from the store will be donated to a local animal shelter at the end of the year.
